Use YourTime Wisely ~ It is of the essence!
Revised 3 Sept, 2009
Today we talk a little about using your time wisely. Why you ask? Because, you can have the most cutting edge of technology at your fingertips, high speed internet access, mobile access and a video phone but if your time is not spent productively you will still struggle to churn a profit. So let’s get back to old school for a moment. The majority of my clients complain of a lack of time to get everything they need done in a timely fashion. So I know time management, it is a challenge for many people in our fast paced world
Easy Communication Today
Social media and Twitter is all the rage today. And rightly so, because the ease of communicating online has shattered many barriers of land and seas in business. The playing field has evolved and will continue to do so. In one of my past articles, I talked about who will bring in the profits this year 2009 - and the answer is a resounding ‘entrepreneurs who adapt quickly to the changing environment’.
Today, entrepreneurs are able to connect with people whom they would not have otherwise been able to interact with a few years back, and this is a huge breakthrough for businesses. The playing field is leveling out.
However, too many entrepreneurs are getting bogged down with all the tricks and fun stuff going on with social media and can get really carried away without even realizing. So many man hours are being lost while people are tinkering with new online gadgets and getting side tracked from their business. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for the fun but when it comes down to business, I’m ‘dead serious’. If you are not churning a growing profit month after month, then you are not in business.

Social Media
Social media is there to ease communicating and to connect with people, building relationship not to waste hours of the week. It is a tool for marketers and others to create a presence and start the branding process. Twitter is great for quick, cursory communication and to get pertinent messages across depending on the nature of your life and business.
But too many marketers are frittering away valuable time getting lost in the novelty of these social media sites. It may seem like you are doing a lot of work, but truth is that’s not so.
Strike A Balance
Yes, you should use social media to build relationships and your business but time is valuable. Work on striking a balance. No one should be spending more that 1 hour to 1.5 hours per day collectively, even if you are a power user, if that much on ALL social media techniques. If you find yourself spending more, you are wasting time! And your business can suffer in terms of profitability.
Make a conscious effort to track the use of your time in a 24 hour slot and it may surprise you where the time goes. Since most of my clients struggle with time management, this is one of the first exercise I have them do. But by using ‘conscious awareness’ you can change your usual pattern of time usage into a much more productive one. When you become aware of how your time is spent then working on a some re-allocation can make a huge difference in in your 24 hour day and in profit generation.
Use your time wisely, it is of the essence as we blast into the 4th and final quarter of the year!
